Truth That Sets Us Free

Hello friends:

Here is day ONE of our journey together.  May it be step one in a walk into a new freedom in Christ for you and yours.

Truth and freedom are constant companions.  Where you find one … you will always find the other.  Freedom in any area in life comes from discovering the truth about it.  And discovering the truth in a particular area always results in freedom of some kind.

It is when a child accepts the truth that there is nothing to be afraid of, that they are finally free of a fear of the dark.  It is only when a little boy accepts the truth that his father can and will catch him that he finds the freedom to leave the security of the diving board and jump into the pool.  Likewise, it is only as we accept the truth of all that Christ did for us on Calvary that we will begin to enjoy the freedom He provides.

The Truth Shall Set Free” … in six simple words, Jesus outlines the process by which any man, woman, boy or girl can gain freedom in this life.  Freedom is NOT gained by through having our own way or doing as we please. On the contrary, prisons are full of men and women who simply did as they pleased.  These people certainly didn’t gain their freedom … they actually forfeited their freedom!  And so it is with us every time we carelessly strike out on our own, to do our own thing.  What results is NOT freedom … but bondage!

If I were to ask you right now … whether or not you are free … you may be tempted to to answer yes … without giving it much thought.  But let me ask you this, are you constantly battling with fear, lust, jealousy, hatred, bitterness, conceit, deceitfulness, a lack of faith, or discouragement?  Are there habits in your life over which you have seem to have little or no control?  Are there certain circumstances and people that you avoid because of insecurity you cannot overcome?  If you answered YES … to one or more of those questions … then you are NOT free!!!  Don’t be fooled by the fact that you are NOT in handcuffs or behind bars.

For the next thirty days … we will focus on some specific areas of potential bondage as well as on the truth that provides the way to freedom!  As the Holy Spirit brings areas of bondage in your life to the surface, spend some extra time meditating on those truths that correspond to your area of need.  And in no time … you will be “FREE” indeed!!!

Key Thought: “Where there is TRUTH … there is FREEDOM!”

Heavenly Father … thank you for providing me with a means by which I can be free.  Thank you for paving the way through the death and resurrection of your Son.  Now give me insight into your WORD … that I may uncover the liberating truths I so desperately need to make my freedom complete.  And Father, don’t let me get discouraged and quit before the journey is complete.

In Jesus name … AMEN!!
